I have become a sheep.

I can't stop reading the Twilight books. I read the first one in THREE DAYS! I started on Sunday and couldn't put it down. Now I want to see the movie SO BAD. I have officially joined the heard. I resisted for so long but finally folded.

Other than that you ask? Hockey, work and gym.

Thats my lil sheep saga.

Hockey hockey every where but not a goal to have!

I was DENIED! I should have had an assist on my second game in the C league (baby beginner league). But they gave it to a GUY that's right GUY that wasn't even on the ice. Hello... Do i look like an older gray haired man. BOOOO! Come on Ref watch the game. I TRIPPED that puck right to her STICK!

Well so I had a little...lets call it a "moment." Where I seriously contemplating finding the person responsible...tracking them down... and writing my name all over there face so they would NEVER forget who i was again. So to talk me down, Brad being the clever ADORABLE person he is, said he bet it was because I still didn't have numbers on the back of my Jerseys so they entered the wrong person. So in order to make sure that didn't happen again, and to possibly insure that I don't go postal on the poor guy, he bought me new Jersey's. I came home and there they were on top of my hockey bag. Some girls think Candy and Flowers are sweet (and don't get me wrong I love flowers) but a jersey's... now that brightens this girls day!

I have a picture but this computer refuses to post... I will though!

Try - outs... the way of the world.

Well I had my C league ( I like to call it newbie Hockey player league) Tryouts on Tuesday night. I did alright. Considering it was my SECOND TIME ever playing an organized game (I use that term loosely here). I could have done much worse. The guys were nice but I find myself competing against "guys" all the time. Is it very a fair competition? At work the male to female ratio is a joke. I KNOW I KNOW I am the one that choose a male dominated field to enter. So really there is no one to blame but myself.
I find myself reflecting on the statement my brother said to me in middle school. Since I never ended up on the "all girls" team I always played sports with boys. If I was slow or not as skilled that particular day he would say. "come on Carolyn...YOUR PLAYING LIKE A GIRL." It's echoed through me my entire life and came full circle on Tuesday night when Brad made the comment "you need to be more aggressive out there.... your playing like a girl. Remember, they are more afraid of you than you are of them." Wow...way do sum up my life in a nutshell.
If you think about what as been en grained in my head from a young age it always comes back to the one common theme. Try harder than those around you and be better than you think you can be. That has gotten me through many challenges in my life. Sometimes I just have to remember... they are more afraid of me than I am of them.

Really... Almost a whole month gone?

So I keep saying to myself... "I should really update my blog." But, I become a little too preoccupied with other things and push it off. So lets start with May 7th. My Birthday. A Sad Sort being 29 this year but got a ton of well wishes from friends and a wonderful call at 7:00 am from my Jilly bean welcoming me to the 29 year old club. Its a club I would rather not be a member of but... it's a pretty good company so you can't be too upset. I got wonderful bouquet from my boyfriend delivered to the house (work from home day) an awesome dinner with some good company at Tokyo steak house. MY FAV! On May 8th we got to take Brad's niece Sophie to a Round Rock Express game. She ate some hot dog, cotton candy, Popcorn and a drank her sprite. Needless to say that gave her plenty of energy to roll down the lawn, Play on the play scape, and jump on the bouncy they have set up for the kids. However, we never made it to the fireworks they have on Friday night games. She was ready to go after the 7th inning. The next morning we took Sophie up to Rudy's to meet Brads family for a Birthday Breakfast! His family is amazing and always makes me feel important :)

Afterwards I had a little surprise. Brad was sweet and took me to the ballet. Which also happened to be his friend Alyson's Last performance with the Austin Ballet company. Which made even more special. It was a lovely performance of Cinderella and I really enjoyed it.
I had a very eventful birthday celebration. A lot of fun stuff. Not the normal thing I do but sometimes different is good.

I guess the only other thing I should mention is that I have really took a liking to this Hockey thing. I have actually signed up for another league. So not only am I playing in the Mixed league with Brad but I am also playing in a "beginners" League too. I won't know anyone on this team so it will be very interesting how I fair.
Never the less... VERY EXCITING.

Besides all that I am sitting here enjoying my Memorial day weekend. Had a Great chat with Jill and am convinced one of her "friends" is extremely obsessed with her. Note to self call her tomorrow and make sure she isn't trapped in the crazies basement. I went shopping for baby clothes for my niece and nephew I get to meet in a couple weeks. And saw Night at the Museum 2 which I REALLY enjoyed. I still have to try and run 6 miles tomorrow even though I am having some sinus issues and I STILL have 2 days left of VACA! Good news all around.

Drop -in

Last night I went to Drop in hockey with Brad. I don't know if I can even Blog it justice. It was a classic "in over my head" Carolyn scenario. These GUYS had been playing for YEARS and then... there was little ole me. The guys were super nice and TOTALLY patient but after awhile I was just getting in the way. It's like they were playing short handed the whole time I was out there and that's not fair. But honestly. I had SO MUCH FUN! So with a little practice and time I will be ok. At least now I know I'll be okay. (like there was any doubt)

Sourness at the Soreness

I can barely move my arms to type this :)

Goodness... I swear I am not lifting that much weight. I have been rotating Abs & Back, Upper body and lower body through out the week but MAN am I weak.

Well at least I am sticking with it. Gotta get ready for training... STARTS JUNE 1ST! Man I am not looking forward to it.

Stupid Scale

How is it that after all the exercise I do I still gain 5lbs. ARG! Apparently in a pole (given to only my BF) it is in my tummy. He tried to tell me it may be muscle but I always think that is a LAME excuse.

Booo weight!

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Oh...So Sore....

My body aches everyday and it's always in a new spot. When I first started this crazy routine it was just the back. BUT NOW... It's the legs that I can't lift certain days the abs that hurt when I try and move any direction and the arms, get this, from stick handling. However, I have made excellent progress in only a couple weeks. I am skating almost everyday and it is really coming back to me. The things I am currently working on are transitions. Forwards to backwards and the like. IT'S SO FUN. It was weird though. My body was SO exhausted yesterday from running then going to a hockey lesson that I could barely keep my eyes open. I ended up going to bed at 9:30pm.
I can really feel the benefits though. In most cases I have more energy, am in better moods and believe it or not my back is getting stronger. I think the most imperative thing is that because my job SUCKS!!!! It gives me something to look forward to and challenges me.

Good times...

This is really going to Happen!

I went to go pick out my Hockey equipment tonight. It's so great that I have a BF that has friends that can sell me equipment below cost. So I should have a nice little bundle of goodies to pick up the Tuesday when I get back from Tampa. YAY! I have to admit... I am a little scared for my new pedicure. It's so pretty. I hope the skates don't ruin it.

On a different note I leave for Tampa on Thursday to sent a lovely weekend with my two best gals! Jilly bean and Kate Lyons... soon to be kady cain.

The rest of my evening will be dodging Brad half teared attempts to water the grass. I feel that the sidewalk and my car are getting a majority of the water but really as long as I don't have to do it... it's a win win situation.

Oh the pain....OH THE PAIN!

So I posted my BEST time Ever. Hopefully I will be able to shred this standing in the next one.

Time was 54:37. That equal 8:48 minute miles. There were over 17,000 runners 7,ooo of them where timed. I came in 118 in my group and 2210 overall. Dang some of those people are quick!!!

Oh am I paying for it today. My legs are about to fall off. My body hurts like a B! I have no energy and I am hungry. I have so much to do before Kates wedding but don't have the energy to do it today.

Ouchy.

Hockey anyone?

I think I am going through a mid life crisis... Do I really want to spend Sunday's falling on me ASS? I guess so because I am signing up for skating/ hockey lessons. I thought this might be a fun activity to due while I am getting ready for the marathon. I love the ice so I get to skate around and learn how to play. My goal? To become better than Brad :) His goal? To be on a mixed team league this summer and laugh at me fall. What a supportive boyfriend.

The only problem is now I have to buy new skates and actually learn how to stop. I have been dreading the stop. I prefer to drag the skate or do a little turn around. I hope someone has a video tape cause this shit is going to be Priceless.

OOOoooh...Then is it?

My baby brother is hilarious... I dedicate this post to him!

So Craigslist is great! Brad and I sold his junk to people this week. BUT the great part is that it's not junk to them and we made over $200 bucks! We sold a rug for $70, a lawn mower for $40, a tv stand for $25.... My favorite is that we sold a Dresser that my old roommate left behind, that was MISSING a drawer for $5. (truth be told I would have Paid some one $5 to take it).

And then on top of all that I posted two of Brads old bikes. One was an old Mongoose mountain bike (We sold it for $35 to a coworker) and the other was a Robinson pro cruiser.

Oh My GOODNESS. I was not prepared for the response that took place after that posting. Posting an add for bikes in this Hippie infested city is like throwing Chum in shark infested waters... are you ever really ready for that? Well needless to say, No. I made the mistake of posting my phone number and not knowing the value of the cruiser. We thought we where going in high at $120... yea...not so much. 15 minutes after I posted it. I had, and NO JOKE, 6 e-mail...4 calls and 3 texts asking for the bike. One offering me $150 if I could drop it off that night. Keep in mind it was 11:30pm and I had to work the next day. I was amazed. These crazies in Austin had the bid up to $200 and one guy wanted to drive down from fort worth to get it and till about 15 minutes ago was still stalking me for it. Oh lord... After all this I removed the post. But oh no... this didn't stop them. Those hippies are persistent little buggers. So I asked Brad what he wanted to do. His response? Man I didn't know it was such a big deal. Maybe I should keep it. While he's saying this I am getting 15 text messages in the background. I reach to strangle him but stop myself. Instead I debate whether to tell these people we sold it or tell them the truth. "I am sorry my waffely BF decided he didn't want $200 for the bike he road twice (because he owns 7 others)." I decide for my safety I need to lie and say someone out bid them. It's not pretty. Angry Hippies are not fun. They have a dark side and don't let anyone tell you different.

Moral of the story... one persons junk is another persons treasure... and you can get money out of them because of it :)

W-O-R-K from HOME!

Have I mentioned how much I love this new work from home deal Dell has gone with? BF works from home Wednesday and I get to work from home on Thursday. MAN IT ROCKS! I don't have to wake up til 7:45 or make up AT ALL! My typical work from home goes. Wake up...log in... Work Work Work... GO grab a Ken Breakfast taco... Work, Load of laundry, Work, Load of laundry. Oh it's 12:30! Go run three miles! take a shower DON'T blow dry the hair! Work, run the dish washer, Conference call, finish sending e-mails it's 5:00pm! Go to the grocery store come home put them away and off to the gym to cross train. Oh yes... now you are starting to see the greatness.

Instead of work, get bothered by someone asking for help, w-o- NOPE another question, lets try again W-O-R almost but no I have twelve people bugging me to walk them through different solutions we offer. I lie and tell them I can't because I have a "conference call." Put the headphones on to block them out and FINALLY get some W-O-R-K done. OH Crap its 5:00pm I missed Lunch and have to go and work from home anyway to catch up.

So... do you see... do you see how I LOVE to work from home!

PLUS... I can nag Bryan and Natalie to upload more baby pic's. YAY baby pic's!

Chicago... you better repeat it!

I am doing the Marathon again. Why you ask. Because I honestly have nothing better to do. Sad I know. Truthfully though I want to do better. My time was lame and I feel I owe it another go around. Besides that little nugget there isn't much going on. I am still getting beat out of the job I want by people that are 20 years older than me and have gotten laid off from other jobs so they feel it necessary to take the ones I have worked 2 years to try to attain.
What??? I sound bitter??? NO!!! Oh wait Yes... Yes I am. I have come to the conclusion that I am going to be unsatisfied with life for a while. It's not bad... just sad. SO, in the meantime I shall run and continue to be under appreciated. Oh whoa is me.

"pity party of one." Oh I think they called me... Until next time!

Master Cleanse take two...

Well I did the master cleanse in March of last year. I lasted 7 days because my Mom and Dad came in for Easter. I am shooting for 14 days this time. I have eaten too much junk and my body can feel it. I am achy and icky. This is definitely going to be trick with Brad moving in this week but... I need to do this for my health.

I just did a salt water flush so... we shall see how it goes.
